Hello, I’m Sammy~ a  naturalist, and a new mother to Eleanor Sykora as of October 3, 2022. I was called back to this ancient, holistic way at the early age of 17. I now have been learning and growing with the Plants for 8 years, and only in 2020 pronounced my calling ‘Mantis Herb Co.’ With much still to keep learning and recovering from the old ways of the Earth and Her people, I have a trusting heart that the herbs that found me then as a child would carry me into being a better human to myself, my loved ones, and my planet.

I grew up in Midwestern parts of Indiana, settling for very short times, or sometimes without a place to settle my mom, dad, and I found ourselves in others homes, or motels. I had a flourishing childhood, in the 90s. They taught me that happiness does not come from what you have, but the people you love and moments of life.

I remember my dad speaking highly of my grandmother as being a very special, witchy woman. She passed when I was 5, but we loved each other greatly, and I take roots in knowing she gifted my dad and I with the same curiosities of surviving in the world with your own wits, and gifts from the Earth. There was passion in “survivalism,” the “homemade,” and “natural remedies” in our household. These things sparked the feeling that ultimately uplifted me to where I am now- living naturally.

We never went to the hospital, and it was circulated to not trust doctors. From a place of fear.

As there could be some truth to that, I grew out of that mentality. To not trust the system. The pharmaceutical industry. The systems that keep us sick. It became a greater trust, than distrust that The Earth holds a deep promise of healing. And those who look most often times find more there than they ever could have imagined. And yet, it is so simple. I think that is what mystifies me the most still.
No side effects, or chemicals. A wholesome quality of life, naturally. I am devoted to using organic, high quality ingredients, and creating holistic products to enhance folks’ way of life, add a gem or two to people’s natural medicine cabinets, and bring light to the timeless knowledge of the Earth and those who came before us.
